WHO: Portland Mayor Sam Adams, The Regional Arts & Culture Council, The Standard, and an estimated 100 citizens

WHAT: One of Portland’s most beloved public artworks, Portlandia, was installed at the Portland Building and dedicated 25 years ago this month. The public is invited to attend a birthday party in her honor. Mayor Adams will read a proclamation declaring October 15th “Portlandia Day.” Citizens will enjoy free cupcakes and coffee and sing “Happy Birthday.”

WHEN: Friday, October 15 from 3:00-3:30 PM

WHERE: The sidewalk at Standard Plaza, across the street from the Portland Building,
1120 SW 5th Avenue

NOTES: Portlandia, by renowned artist Raymond Kaskey, is made of hammered copper sheeting about the thickness of a dime formed around a steel armature. At 34’ 10”, she is one-third the size of the Statue of Liberty, the only larger statue of this kind in the nation.
