February 14, 2011 article in The Oregonian:

Arvie Smith, a professor at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, has taught 109 young men at the Donald E. Long Home, the Multnomah County juvenile detention center in Northeast Portland, since the summer of 2009 through a grant from RACC. They're collaborating on five 8-by-15 plywood murals. One is on display through Sunday at the Oregon Historical Society downtown. Three others are stored in empty cells, waiting to be hung in showrooms around Portland. The fifth is almost done. All five eventually will come back to the center to brighten the walls and inspire young men in the future.
